Youtube Video

When I was doing the final assignment, I still can’t figure out how to insert a youtube video into the post. It is really driving me crazy. I also wanted to try the graphic storyboard model as my storyboard, when I downloaded that inpiration software, I just had no idea about how to use that software. Start learning a new technology is a really challenge for me.

Storyboard

I’ve finished reading the whole course, now it’s the time to start creating storyboard. I think it’s a big challenge for me because I’ve never done it before.Now I need to change my word format storyboard into power point format.

The Behavioral Learning Theory believes that behavior is learned from either the environment, the people in the individual’s life, the media, or society as a whole. The interesting point is that this theory contradicts the Biological theory, which states that criminals are born to be bad and that criminal behavior is inherited.  The behavioral theory looks at the environment as well as society’s impact on how an individual acts which might be the reason for criminal behavior.  This theory blames the environment as well as the individual by saying it is a learned behavior and that it also was a choice they made.  A basic assumption is that behavior is learned and modeled by individuals, groups, the media, and society as a whole.

Second Life Again!

Few weeks ago in the class, we had a second journey in Second Life. I was so excited because I was thinking what the Second Life would look like after one year.

 Then I found it is more interesting then the first time I saw it. But there are sitill some advantages and disadvantages. It’s easy to get lost, I find there is no obvious notice board to show you the way to the place you want to go. And because of technical limitation, it needs faster internet base, otherwise you can’t move around in the Second Life easily. It is also  a  both process and graphic space.

Key educational strenth:

It offers new way thinking about delivering and facillitating. It has the abbility to ask people  to active or engage learninng. It is alos about engaging and activiting and experiencing.

how would u use 2nd life

Learners are taught some courses in 2nd life instead of in TAFE which is being bored. Learners can build up their own knowledge and contexts there not just learn things from others.

The 2nd life is still attracting, but it’s also a bit confusing. It’s getting easier after you keep using it. If it’s your first time to go there, it is better you have a mentor to show you around which like we did in the class. Then you definately think it is a wonderful place!

Webinar–Webex

For our group assignment, I’ve been looking at the area called Webinar. I have no idea before starting doing this assignment. After the research, I just found Webinar has lots of advantages which bring more profit to the company.

 For example, from my case study–Subaru. They use Webex as their webinar to create new training programm for their employees. This software saved the money and time. The dealers just need 10-20 minutes to particiate in the web presentations whenever and wherever they are, at a cost of approximately $0.75 us dollars per person.

So this kind of software is quite convenient for learning. The learners can review and redo all excersise whenever they want and it’s free. More and more company is using webinar to develop their learning system for their employees. Thus, employees’ learning process will more and more effective by use of webinar.

First post of E-learning Design

The class has started for 1 month and I realize that it is the time to start writing my process of this subject, otherwise, Anne won’t forgive me!

During this month, we have done lots of activities so I feel like that I have many things to talk about. I’m happy because I can still wirte something here, use this wonderful blog which is recording my uni life by doing E-learning Design.

This subject is not disappointing me, it is very interesting and exciting. We had research about new technology used in the organizations such as Webinar, Instant Messaging which our group did for the first assignment; we also had DoCS people who came to our class and gave us a presentation of NEO Training Program and we had 2nd Life again!!!

I will talk about those in more details later~!

Final evaluation of E-learning

At the beginning of this subject, I was thinking that it had something to do with e-portfolio which I did at last semester. E-learning is a new technology to me which I have never had before in my education life. It is really hard to convince people to accept new technology. As this subject is compulsory, I have to face this new technology and eventually, I’m satisfied with this new technology and can see the benefits from using it.

During the semester, I have been looking at lots of new things which can help my further education like Netvibes, Delicious, Edubolgs, Second Life program, blogging and on-line short courses and so on. Victoria was patient enough to explain and show us how to create those accounts and tell us the benefits from using them. Also she asked us to do lots of class activities to demonstrate on those new knowledge which provide us a interesting and easy way to accept it.

I would like to say that I enjoyed this subject more than I thought I would. I also would like to continue this blog when I will do another e-learning course next year.

German Course

I just finished four hours online German course from bbc website. It was an interesting experience of learning a new language. As I said, I have learnt beginner level last year in the class in USYD. It is quite different from a in-class teaching.

The advantage is that you can do whenvere you can and it is always there. The conversation is very in common and it is quite useful for travelling to Germany. The disadavantage is that there is still lack of basic knowledge like how to pronunce the alphabets. Some of them are familiar with English so if you are an English background speaker , the pronunciation is not a problem to you at all. But if it is like me, from none English background , the correct pronunciation of basic alphabets is essential to be taught by a teacher.

Also, the online course didn’t apply you how to learn the gramma. In the class, teacher tells you the easiest way to learn this special gramma but not in the on-line course. In addition, you can ask any question to the teacher in the class but no one you can ask when you do an on-line course.

Thus, short on-line course is just suitable for the people who just want to know some greeting sentences or to very basic information about Germany. The on-line course is becoming more and more popular but it is not efficient way to lear a new language. However, it is a good learning tool to get started on a language course online. It gives you a briefe outline of a new language and you will know if you are interested in learning this course continued or not in a short time, won’t waste your time!!

e-Test

By accidently, I found a website about eTest. I’m quite curious about it and then started to find our more about this.

The company learns to understand its customer’s personality, behaviour,psychology,etc by using of this tool. This helps the company effectively to develop their customer’s business in the future. I think eTest can be a new learning tool for some companies in the future!

Searching for e-learning courses

Last week, I started searching an online short course for assignment 3. It was hard to search online. I searched a typing course and I registered and sarted doing it. Actuallly I found the course was too easy for me. The course has 27 steps and each step allows you 10 mintues to complete. I can finish each step within 1-3 minutes. So I think this course is designed for the people who never touched keybord and don’t know how to type the word. So I gave up that course and started searching other courses.

Finally I took the advise from Module 3 activity from utsonline. I started to do a short German course from bbc website. Why am I choosing that one? I’m really interested in learning German and last year, I completed the beginner level in USYD for German. So I want to find out what is the difference between an in-class German course and an online German course and the adavantage and disadavantage between these two styles.

2nd Life~~

Two weeks ago, we had a guest who gave us a lecture about second life. I was very comfused at the first, didn’t get it. Besides, I was curious to find out what this programm is actually about.

At the begining, the first impression about this programm to me was like a game. I really had no idea how the learning can be worked by using of this program. After I had a tour on second life with our speaker, I realized that the visual worlds had lots of advantages as a learning tool.

It is hard and expensive to create your world and course or presentations in Second Life. The good thing is we can view and find useful information as a guest. I was really interested in one place in Second Life which was a salon. The creator said that place was created for her hairdressing students. Students can have practices there like in a real life. And also, you can do lots of things which you can’t do it in the real world, such as walking under the sea~!

Victoria said we would use some training course for our assignment 3. I wouldn’t do it because this program is still too new to me and if I chose short learning course there, I had to spend time to get familiar with this program. It does take time to get through all of it.

Anyway, I’m happy to have a tour on Second Life. It is fun and creative. I hope one day we can have our lessons at home by use of Second Life in stead of attending class in the college.
